Elm Street Elementary School is a vibrant dual-track school offering instruction in both English and French Immersion. We proudly serve approximately 400 students in Kindergarten to Grade 6, supported by a caring and dedicated team of 36 teachers, 30 educational assistants, two youth service workers, and one French monitor.
At Elm Street, we believe strong relationships are at the heart of learning. Our families come from Richmond in the west to New London in the east, creating a diverse and connected school community united through our French immersion and English programs.
Originally built in 1960, our school has grown alongside our community. Over the years, the school has undergone significant renovations and expansion that support student learning and growth, including the addition of several classrooms, a new gymnasium, and updated music and library spaces. Most recently, in 2025, we added a brand-new portable classroom to our campus. This modern learning space is home to our A+ Program and reflects our continued commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our students while adapting to our growing school community.
Visitors often comment on the bright and welcoming atmosphere that makes Elm Street feel like home. As an urban school, we are especially fortunate to have a large green space designed for play, connection, and movement. With playgrounds, swing sets, basketball hoops, a Gaga ball pit, and open sports fields, there is something for every student to enjoy. These spaces are where friendships take root, teamwork is strengthened, and lasting memories are created.
At Elm Street Elementary, we are more than a school, we are a community where students, families, and staff work together to help every child learn, grow, and thrive.
